I just received this article about NYC thinking about forcing permits upon groups of people taking pictures or filming in public areas, like sidewalks. This bill does not distinguish between professionals and amateurs, any one standing around video taping a group of friends for more than 10 minutes could be detained even though they probably don't know about the silly law. Yet another sad enforcement against creative output.
As I am in Chicago, about to go see the huge Jeff Wall show, this article seemed particularly applicable. Basically, if I wanted to go try my hand at something Wall-esque, I would have to obtain some pretty series permits simply because I have a tripod and a group of people. I guess it's a good thing I'm in Chicago tonight.
Hello people! I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer! I just wanted to post that I got engaged on Saturday, June 23rd, to my boyfriend Joe! We are so happy!
Me and my friend Amy are going to Savannah the first weekend in August for a mini vacation. Since she's the srt dept. secretary where I work, I thought it would be fun to show her a real art school. But... we're both pretty poor and are hoping to find someone to let us crash at their place for three nights. Anyone still even live there? I would really appreciate it if you found it in the goodness of your heart to let us crash on your couch!!!
Vote for Amber's (newer photo grad student, if you don't know her) husband Chad's video, City Streets for kame noodles. It's pretty cool. You can vote at www.kamevideocontest.com.
Damn, and I though Crewdson and Barney had a budget! But I've gotta say that they look pretty stingy compared to Damien Hirst's new $99 Million creation. The skull covered in top-quality diamonds was completely funded by Hirst and his agent. I think it looks pretty damn tough.
I don't think that any of us are becoming paparazzi, but maybe someone here is a celebrity? If so, consider Blur, a new product that leaves photo-jockeys with hungry families and celebs with their anonymous drug-induced frenzies.
It's yet another JPG contest. Vote again if you have a moment and if you're in the running I'll return the favor... unless you hate the photo, then you can piss off.
